Waste Custodian Management, Inc. (WACUMAN, Inc.) hosted the inauguration of its state-of-the-art Moving Bed Bio Reactor (MBBR) wastewater treatment facility on February 18, 2014 at Sitio Tiyakad, Bgy. San Mateo, Norzagaray Bulacan Bulacan Provincial Gov. Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado and DENR-EMB Region 3 Regional Director Lormelyn E. Claudio graced the occasion and led the ribbon cutting ceremony.
WACUMAN, Inc. introduced its MBBR Technology that makes removal efficiencies better than those of conventional activated sludge plants. It uses biocarriers that move freely throughout the liquid of the reactor (basin). The biocarriers provide a highly effective environment for biofilm growth and contact with the incoming wastewater. WACUMAN, Inc. is a DENR-accredited, Category 4 Sanitary Landfill that accepts
household or domestic, Pathogenic (M501) and other treated industrial non-hazardous wastes from private companies and Local Government Units (LGUs).
During the inauguration, WACUMAN Inc. President Noel Lim highlighted the importance of a sanitary landfill that could properly address the issues on garbage in the province. His team also highlighted the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the company that entailed involvement and participation of the community. The team also gave a hint of a promising future ahead for the company through more development and technological approach in the treatment of wastes.
Meanwhile, in his speech, Gov. Alvarado displayed his support for landfills such as WACUMAN, Inc., that are cost-efficient and are located within the province. Regional Director Claudio also encouraged LGUs to support and utilize sanitary landfills that could actually aid the environment by providing proper treatment of wastes.
